critical postcolonial dance recovery and pedagogy

We aim to give back to the culture we nurture & live from:

CULTURAL RELEVANT TEACHING & PROTECTING THE VALUE OF THE DANCE & CULTURE

- Interact work from the concept of critical postcolonial dance recovery and pedagogy, aterm borrowed from a science article by Cruz Banks O.(2009). https://doi.org/10.1080/14681360903194368

Our opinion is that Normcreative and innovative thinking is great and important, but only from an educated and cultural relevant point of view. We always base our education from the dance the roots, authentic aesthetics, sociohistoric context and values of the dance. From this starting point we are open and interested in questions about the future and able to negotiate new identities & transcultural evolutions etc. This is important in a postcolonial perspective as well as when working in a global context and in contemporary times, when information spreads fast. We carefully make didactical choices based on the African diaspora heritage and simultaneously leaving space for norm creative thinking efficiency and function.

We believe that cultures have value that we need to protect. We don't believe thought in conservative attitudes and reproduction of teaching traditions without reflection. We always reflect & search for new methods -solutions, spot on efficient and functional didactical methods that still represent the dance in its essence.
